Join Cumberland area Freemasons in celebrating the upcoming Festival of Saint John the Evangelist at Cumberland's historic and beautiful Emmanuel Episcopal Parish located at 16 Washington Street adjacent to the Cumberland Masonic Temple.

Masons will assemble in the church's parish hall prior to the 10:00 am service and process into the sanctuary together. White aprons will be available. Lodge officers may wear tuxedo or dark suit and the apron and jewel of your office.

Excerpt from Mackey's Encyclopedia of Freemasonry:
"One of the Patron Saints of Freemasonry, Saint John the Evangelist's festival is celebrated on the 27th of December. His constant admonition, in his Epistles, to the cultivation of brotherly love, and the mystical nature of his Apocalyptic visions, have been, perhaps, the principal reasons for the veneration paid to him by the Craft. Notwithstanding a well-known tradition, all documentary evidence shows that the connection of the name of the Evangelist with the Masonic Order is to be dated long after the sixteenth century, before which time Saint John the Baptist was exclusively the patron saint of Freemasonry. The two are, however, now always united."

The Ceremony of Lights for the Cumberland Scottish Rite will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Masonic Temple, Greene Street, Cumberland.

Chapters of Rose Croix traditionally observe this Ceremony of Remembrance and Renewal, including the Mystic Banquet, as a memorial service honoring the Knights of their Chapter who have passed on during the preceding year.

This observance strengthens the ties of brotherly love, past and present.  We meet together to break the bread of fraternity, to reconcile ourselves with those we may have offended, and to drink the wine of refreshment and renewal.  Thus, we celebrate the lives of our departed Brethren and promise to abide by the New Law, the Law of Love, with our present Brethren and all mankind.

Join the Cumberland Scottish Rite for our Fall 2018 Feast of Tishri and 32 Capping Ceremony!  This combined event provides the opportunity to welcome new members into the Scottish Rite, honor those who have served our Valley with distinction, and take part in one of the Scottish Rite's most sacred ceremonies.

The Feast of Tishri will include a Thanksgiving feast of Roast Turkey and all the trimmings followed by the Ceremony of the Feast of Tishri, including the offering of the Eight Toasts of Obligation and a reading of Albert Pike's "Anthem No. 1."

The message of Tishri comes to us strongly and clearly from across the ages because it has been preserved in the symbolism and allegory of the Scottish Rite. Through our observance of this great feast of thanksgiving, we as heirs of Solomon, perpetuate his magnificent Temple of the freedom in our lives, our communities, our country, and most of all in our beloved Rite.
